From Bad to Good
My friend from highschool came into town last week. He's starting his USA wide tour in search of residency. No, he's not apartment shopping, but looking for a hospital to take him in, put him to work, and still charge him for education. I dropped him off at the airport a little after midnight on Thursday. So, when I got home from work on Friday I was a little sleepy. What should have been a short hour and a half nap turned into a four hour napfest. I completely missed good times and volleyball on Friday night. Saturday was pretty quiet, just futzed around the house, kinda boring with no internet yet. Saturday night a pirate washed up on my shore and I had to let her in, she brought a gift of icecream! Sunday was lazy too, although I got some mushroom jack fajitas (from Chili's) for lunch and then saw Harry Potter. Harry Potter was good, and I'd be willing to see it again if people still want to go. It's kinda weird how fanatical people get about it. Thursday night, to kill time, Brandon and I went to see the 9:50 showing of The Weather Man. At 9:40 people were lined up outside in the cold for the midnight showing of Harry Potter. Maybe it's just me, but two hours in the cold for the movie just doesn't seem worth it. Right now I can't think of any movie (new or potential sequel) that would make me stand outside in the cold for two hours. In case you were curious The Weather Man was a good movie, Nick Cage was in good form (think Leaving Las Vegas) and less shoddy (think Gone in 60 Seconds). Although overall the movie isn't quite a cheerful one, but still well done.
And that kind of brings us here. I have decided this morning that if the internet problem hasn't been resolved by today when I get home, Charter is getting a call to schedule a hookup. While Charter hasn't given us 100% service all the time, they've never left me hanging for more than a day and here with TDS we are on the 5th day. Can you tell this bothers me? Mostly because I'm "oncall" at work, meaning if I get a call at 4 AM, I have to either sign on from home, or drive into work. Guess which I'd prefer. I've heard legend that work has some magical PC that connects from anywhere and can be checked out for oncall people, so I'm also going to have to investigate that in case TDS fails me and Charter is busy on the install side.
Well, I should probably start my work week, but I just wanted to drop a line and let people know I'm still here. The good news is it's only a 3 day work week!!! Come get some!
